The objective of CPD is to ensure that accredited professionals maintain the currency of their skills and knowledge. This is particularly important in an environment of rapidly evolving markets, changing laws and regulations. It is the obligation of the accredited professional to ensure that they continually improve their ability to do their job, and to expand their technical and professional skills through education. CPD encourages continuous learning throughout a professional career.
20 CPD Points for Associate, CCRP and CCRP Fellow
All accredited professionals must earn 20 CPD points in any membership year (from July 1 to June 30) - or alternatively 60 points over the course of three membership years. This is pro-rated for accreditation granted part way through the financial year. The requirement does not increase for accreditation levels.
In addition to maintaining your membership with GRCI, accredited professionals must also meet their CPD requirements by:
Activities which develop or enhance skills related to the competencies that underpin the accreditation programs would be considered appropriate CPD. Activities that are specific to your role can also be considered CPD, as long as they are not paid activities.
The number of points able to be claimed for an activity are restricted in some cases. This reflects the variation in quality and intensity of learning outcomes for different activity types. It also recognises that learning can be self-paced using a number of media where time spent on an activity is not necessarily an accurate indicator of content and knowledge gained. The following table sets out the units available for various activities*.
*Please note that the list below is by no means exhaustive. Professionals should consider all CPD opportunities available to them in order to meet the yearly requirement.
Points can be calculated as 0.5 for a half hour increment of each activity. Less than half an hour may not be counted for points. Forty-five minutes will equate to 0.5 points. A full hour is required to achieve 1 point. Any CPD points accrued in excess of the 20 point requirement may not be carried over to the subsequent membership year.
Whilst all GRCI activities are allocated CPD points, activities outside GRCI can also be acceptable forms of CPD.
