GRC2017 New Zealand Summit

23-06-2017 8:30AM 23-06-2017 5:00PM
AMP Centre, Level 1, 29 Customs St, West Auckland, New Zealand, 1010

The GRCI Board have reviewed and updated our Mission and Vision going forward, simplifying and making clear our focus: to professionalise compliance.

What this means is that our efforts are concentrated on making sure the market and regulators understand the level of care, responsibility, skills and knowledge our members provide to their organisations and to support that message, give back to our members, the resources, training and continuing professional development they need to maintain their professional standards.
The broader theme of our GRC2017 conference in Melbourne is based on the Winston Churchill quote that what is required in times of challenge is

Our members seem to be always under challenge, whether it be regulatory change, rapidly evolving technologies, growing external risks and uncertain regulatory expectations in the face of these changes and increased risks. Add to this, shrinking resources and broadened scopes and it may well be time for compliance professionals to dig in and worry less about ‘engaging’ and “winning the business over” and more about delivering hard truths and making sure those who should be responsible for compliance outcomes are seriously taking it on board with the level of priority they should be.

As part of the GRC2017 Summit Series, this New Zealand event has been designed to meet the specific needs of New Zealand compliance and risk professionals, giving delegates the opportunity to hear and learn from experts in the GRC field, including senior practitioners and regulators from New Zealand. This one day professional development event is supported by our quarterly shorter seminars in Auckland, webinars and our publications and discussion groups.

Key topics for this year that we are planning to address include:

  • Regulatory updates – what they are looking for, observing and where they hope to see improvement
  • Conducting a proper risk assessment
  • Conduct risk – updates and progress
  • Regulatory change overload – how to assess your priorities and manage scarce resources
  • Cyber risk – emerging threats and planning to manage a crisis
  • The age of “tech”- what does fintech, regtech and suptech look like in New Zealand?
  • Building your knowledge portfolio – what are the new subjects you need to get your head around?
The speakers will be announced below as they are confirmed but we can promise an exciting and challenging program, which will give you the tools to keep improving your compliance and risk programs and end with a networking function to build and strengthen the New Zealand GRC community.
